Floral Upgrade

Florals are a given once Spring rolls around, so it was no surprise that they were seen all over the runways. At first glance they may seem a little predictable, but designers have added a modern twist to this crowd favorite. Models sashayed down the catwalks in big, bold versions of the print and many sported the look from head-to-toe. Instead of flowing maxi dresses and dainty motifs often associated with the design, the pieces shown took a more architectural approach. We saw boxy capes in abstract watercolors, slender suits in pretty pinks, and tropical inspired jumpsuits instead of the expected sheer blouse or skirt. The pattern follows suit with the ’70s inspired trend that has re-emerged. Designers have been showing lots of white, fringe and gingham so fabulous florals were bound to make an appearance. From Chanel to Victoria Beckham, the runways flourished like a chic secret garden reminding us that some things just never get old.
